   Accolades to the outgoing President

Jennifer Sperling
She has been a valuable asset to SAR. She was President Pro Tem for almost a year when she stepped up to the plate when she saw that she was needed. She was elected President for the last year. In that time she managed to develop a better working relationship with the Sheriff’s Office as Sheriff Jackson acknowledged to her personally in a SAR Board meeting November 26, 2003, with Lt. Larry Leader and Sgt. Dave McDaniel echoing those sentiments. She also encouraged Doris B. to take a grant-writing course and start writing grants for the group which resulted in a $10,700 grant being received for radios, GPS units, laptop computer and map CD technology which will enable the group to do better and more thorough searching. She also asked Doris to write a grant for the required 24-hour backpacks and their contents to loan to all members when they go on a search. This grant is still pending. All this equipment and inspiration has been due to Jennifer’s encouragement and leadership skills. She also has been on most of the searches conducted in the past few years that she was a member of Search and Rescue. On top of this, she was instrumental in helping to solve the whereabouts of a hunter missing for two years and received a thank you letter from the Sheriff’s Office for her help. She leaves Search and Rescue to move on to other and better things. She gave up so much of herself for the greater good of SAR. Her skills and integrity were outstanding. We will miss you and your skills Jennifer. Thank you for all that you did. It is a loss to the group and future searches.
