Sheriff Andrew Jackson was born on December 16, 1944 in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He served in the military from 1963-1967. In September 1974 he moved to Oregon.
    He started working with the Coos County Sheriff's Office in January 1977 as a Corrections Deputy. During his stay with the sheriff's office he served as a Civil Deputy from 1981-1985 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 as Jail Shift Advisor. In 1996 he was promoted to Lieutenant and Jail Commander. He was promoted to Captain in 1997.
    In 1998 he ran for Sheriff of Coos County and was elected. He started his service as Coos County Sheriff in January 1999. Sheriff Jackson and his wife Linda have six children, 4 girls and 2 boys.
