Even though the Search of February, 10 at Cape Arago did
not locate the subject, it was considered a success.
We cleared all areas of probability thereby giving law
enforcement a certain amount of assurance that the subject was not in the
area. Both the Oregon State Police and the Coos County Sheriff's Office
thanked us and commended us for our professional efforts.
We turned out both a groundpounder's team and several
Amateur radio patrol units. The TAC unit was there with both Amateur Radio
& SAR capabilities along with a computer and a printer. We had excellent
maps. Board members, JJ Kellum, Joe Doman and Bob Frost were on scene
and would like to commend everyone involved for their professionalism and
dedication.
A special thanks goes to newcomers Chip DeLyria &
Derrick Pennington. These guys have what it takes to be groundpounders.
A special thanks to Hams John Ireland, Bud Berliner and Loren Fleming for their
support. Amateur Radio really proved it's worth by filling in when the
SAR frequency disappeared in the ravines above Cape Arago.
