Search of December 31, 2005
On Friday, while working on the Sheriff's Web Page
--- weather & flooding conditions -- what else?!? -- I was made aware of a
missing woman in the East bay area. I called around to the group and
asked if they could keep their calendars clear.
On Saturday, we were called at Noon to do a door to door
search in North Bend. Again with weather not cooperating we were
searching again. This time knocking on doors and showing the missing
person's picture. An interesting condition arose. The Sheriff's
radio system had been damaged by the storm. We communicated with the deputy
via cell phones. Of course, being in downtown North Bend facilitated the
use of cell phones. We can't expect to use cell phones out in the
Boonies where we usually search. Again, this search had a sad ending.
The woman was found dead in the water not too far from where she disappeared.
The article from the World Newspaper follows.
Body of missing woman is found in slough on
Saturday
Tuesday, January 3, 2006 3:12 PM PST
Rose Anne Allred, 57, reported missing on Thursday evening, was found dead in Kentuck Slough on Saturday afternoon.
Allred, who was staying with friends on East Bay Drive in North Bend, was
reported missing at about 5 p.m. Thursday. Searches were conducted
throughout the weekend by volunteers and personnel from the Coos County
Sheriff's office. Allred was found floating in Kentuck Slough on Saturday
afternoon, three miles from where she was staying.
Due to holiday closures, no autopsy has been conducted and the cause of
death remains unknown.
Coos County Sheriff Andy Jackson said this morning that Allred was not in
poor physical health. He said the deputies had no idea why Allred went
missing on Thursday. The case is under investigation, Jackson added.
Anyone with information regarding Allred's disappearance and death is asked
to contact the Coos County Sheriff's Office at 756-8215.
An update from The World
Death ruled accidental
Thursday, January 19, 2006 2:51 PM PST
Coos County investigators have ruled that the death of Rose Anne Allred, no address listed, was accidental.
The 57-year-old woman was reported missing on Dec. 29, and was found dead Dec.
31 in Kentuck Slough.
According to the Coos County Deputy Medical Examiner Kris Karcher, Allred's
died by accidental drowning. She had been reportedly been disoriented due to
medications prior to going missing. Karcher said she believed it was because
of the disorientation that Allred fell into the slough.
